Julien Loreto

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Julien spent most of his childhood and early teen years following his aspirations of becoming a tennis professional. Although he achieved both national and international success at the junior level, Julien had a change of heart after being seduced by house music and its culture at a warehouse party in 1996. Shortly after being exposed to electronic music, Julien acquired some used DJ gear and started making mix-tapes for friends.

By 2000, Julien earned a Friday night residency at Mad Bar in Toronto playing alongside DJ Addy (Toronto), and international guests such as DJ Heather and Miss Honey Dijon. Since then Julien has played inside and outside of the city, having residencies at some of Toronto's best clubs. Throughout his years behind the decks, Julien has developed a distinct sound and mixing style influenced by DJ's and artists such as Richie Hawtin, Derrick Carter, Green Velvet, Danny Tenaglia, and more recently Nic Fanciulli. Incorporating big tunes, obscure tracks, minimal beats, and precise use of the mixer, his sets create energy and emotion while making the crowd move.

Needing a more personal outlet for creative musical expression and wanting to take his career to the next level, Julien began producing in 2004. He has recently launched his own label called Generation Recordings.

Currently, Julien's is playing gigs in Toronto including a residency at the Comfort Zone alongside some of Toronto's best DJs. He is busy in his studio working on releases for his label and is also in the process of obtaining certification as an Audio Engineer.

With his DJing and production, Julien is starting to make his mark in Toronto and is beginning to receive recognition as an up and coming international talent.
